About the Role:
This role is key to creating a welcoming, inclusive, and engaging community hub at The Stranraer Millennium Centre.
You will be at the heart of the centre’s day-to-day activity, welcoming visitors, supporting programmes, and helping people access the services and opportunities available. You will play an active role in supporting, the development and delivering activities that respond to local needs and encourage participation from across the community.
Working closely with colleagues, volunteers, and partners, you will help ensure the centre remains a safe, supportive, and vibrant space for everyone who uses it.
Key Responsibilities:
Community Hub Delivery
- Support the day-to-day running of the community hub, ensuring it is welcoming, safe, and well-organised, including rooms setup and equipment moving.
- Act as a first point of contact for visitors, creating & providing information, support, and signposting to relevant services
- Deliver and support a programme of activities, sessions, and events within the centre
- Contribute to maintaining a clean, professional, and inclusive environment both indoors and outdoors.
- The post holder may be required, following discussion, to undertake additional duties, with training provided as necessary
Participant Engagement
- Build positive relationships with individuals and groups, encouraging participation and ongoing involvement
- Support people to access appropriate services, both within the centre and externally
- Help create an environment where all members of the community feel valued, respected, and able to take part.
Planning and Development
- Assist in planning and developing activities that reflect the needs and interests of the local community
- Contribute ideas to expand and improve the hub’s offer
- Support the delivery of a varied and engaging programme of services and events
Partnership Working
- Work with partner organisations to deliver services and activities from the hub
- Build and maintain positive relationships with local stakeholders and community groups
- Promote the centre and its activities to increase awareness and participation
- Monitoring and Reporting where required
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, engagement, and project activity
- Support monitoring and evaluation to demonstrate impact
- Assist with reporting requirements and contribute to funding related work where required
Administration and Operations
- Support bookings, scheduling, and coordination of activities and spaces
- Process payments, raise invoices, and manage basic financial administration
- Respond to enquiries in person, by phone, and via email in a professional and timely manner
Health, Safety and Safeguarding
- Ensure all activities are delivered in line with health and safety and safeguarding policies
- Report any concerns in accordance with organisational procedures
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Experience working in a community, voluntary, or support setting
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage a wide range of people
- Ability to build trust and create a welcoming environment
- Good organisational skills and ability to manage a varied workload
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team (including lone working)
- Basic IT skills (email, spreadsheets, record-keeping systems)
- A proactive, flexible approach with a willingness to contribute ideas
