We are seeking a compassionate, creative, and resilient Youth Worker to support the positive development of young people in our community.This is a rewarding role for someone passionate about helping young people build confidence, overcome challenges, and reach their full potential. You will lead engaging activities, provide guidance and support, and create a safe, inclusive environment where young people feel valued and heard.
Key Responsibilities
Engagement and Relationship Building
- Build positive, trusting relationships with young people from a range of backgrounds
- Act as a mentor and role model, offering guidance and support
- Identify individual needs and signpost to appropriate services where required
- Carry out outreach to engage young people who may not access services
Programme Delivery
- Plan and deliver engaging activities, workshops, and events
- Support and encourage youth-led projects and decision-making
- Ensure all activities are inclusive, accessible, and responsive to young people’s needs
Safeguarding and Wellbeing
- Create a safe, supportive, and respectful environment
- Follow safeguarding procedures and report concerns appropriately
- Promote the physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing of young people
Outreach and Promotion
- Support outreach work to increase engagement, particularly with underrepresented groups
- Promote activities through social media, local networks, and community channels
- Work with schools, services, and partner organisations to provide joined-up support
Monitoring and Evaluation
- Record attendance, engagement, and feedback
- Support evaluation of activities and contribute to ongoing improvements
- Provide updates and input for reports where required
Teamwork and Leadership
- Work closely with colleagues, volunteers, and partners to deliver high-quality youth provision
- Provide support and guidance to volunteers or sessional staff where appropriate
- Support the Youth workers or Project Manager in achieving programme goals
- Represent the organisation at meetings and community events when required

- Ability to build trust and engage young people effectively
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Resilient and able to manage challenging situations professionally
- Patient, supportive, and a good listener
- Creative, with the ability to deliver engaging and inspiring activities
- Organised, with the ability to manage a varied workload
- Understanding of safeguarding and commitment to safe practice
- Flexible approach to working hours, including evenings and occasional weekends
Desirable (training can be provided)
- Experience working with young people in any setting
- Relevant qualification in youth work, community work, or a related field
- Knowledge of issues affecting young people (e.g. mental health, isolation, poverty)
