DESCRIPTION:Join us at Stranraer Millennium Centre as we come together to celebrate the life and music of the late Jim Hamilton - A much-loved, talented, family man and a rock legend in ‘the toon’ . A self-taught guitarist and singer/songwriter, the budding star decided the mid-70’s was his ‘time to shine’ and seized an opportunity to become a full-time musician touring the UK and Europe with his then best friend, forming the charismatic duo, ‘Jim & Ady’. At the height of their success, Jim performed live on TV shows, recorded songs at Abbey Road Studios and was signed to the record label EMI. On ITV’s Opportunity Knocks, Jim & Ady came a close second to popular household name, Tom O’ Connor, but it was when he released ‘Rock and Roll Marionette’ that he reached the pinnacle of his fame with a Number One in Denmark. In the late 70’s Jim then formed the band ‘Hamilton’ with his brother Andy and great friend, Robin Gallacher, gigging all over Stranraer and the surrounding area, bringing the joy of live music to many delighted crowds. The tribute night features music from local bands Check the Diary, Breakdown SOS, The Hoolies, Bad Reputation, The Flashes, and HAMILTON. Limited seating available.
